We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Aide to join our team at the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority. As a Maintenance Aide, you will be responsible for performing routine manual work, including operation of mechanical equipment and performing basic maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including scrubbing, mopping, and polishing floors, as well as cleaning lavatories and replenishing supplies.
- Assist more experienced maintenance workers in repairing and replacing window screens and doors.
- Sweep, clean, and repair sidewalks, and assist in keeping outside premises orderly.
- Perform minor repairs to interior and exterior surfaces, including sanding, glazing, painting, and laying floor tile.
- Replace light bulbs and fixtures, and make minor repairs to electrical switches, outlets, and appliances.
- Move furniture, appliances, and equipment, and deliver supplies.
- Operate snow removal equipment, and assist in doing repair work on buildings and equipment.
- Make minor plumbing repairs, including unclogging drains and fixing faucets.
- Assist with minor repairs and installations, and clean hot water tanks, force-air furnaces, refrigerators, and stoves.
- Attend required workshops and seminars to stay current on job requirements.
- Ensure curb appeal of properties by keeping exterior and interior areas clean and free of hazards.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain janitorial equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning materials and their proper use.
The physical demands of this job include extensive exposure to all kinds of weather, extended heavy lifting, and extensive walking, climbing, and crawling. The employee must be able to independently lift up to 100 pounds on a routine basis.
Equipment UsedThe typical equipment used in this job includes, but is not limited to, sanders, floor scrubbers, polishers, and waxes.
OtherThe candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in the state of residence, and maintain an insurable driving record under the terms and conditions of the CMHA auto liability policy.
