Role Overview:


As a Customer Service Representative, you will be the first point of contact for customers visiting the branch. Your primary responsibilities will include utilizing effective communication and listening skills to address the financial needs of our clients while fostering strong customer relationships.

Your duties will encompass routine banking transactions, educating customers about available products and services, and managing both new and existing deposit accounts along with other customer service responsibilities.

You will enhance the reputation of Foothills Bank through your service quality and professionalism.

Accuracy and timeliness in processing transactions and maintaining a balanced cash drawer are essential expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service Duties:


Execute various transactions for bank customers, including but not limited to: receiving deposits, cashing checks, processing loan payments, handling wire transfer requests, fulfilling business change orders, issuing cashier's checks, redeeming savings bonds, processing credit card advances, managing foreign currency transactions, and facilitating telephone transfers.


Maintain a foundational understanding of banking products such as checking, savings, money market accounts, Certificates of Deposit (CD), and e-banking services.

Promote the High Performance Checking Tell-A-Friend Program and assist with branch displays and promotional events.

Effectively market and cross-sell the bank's services and accounts to meet customer needs.


Assist customers with safe deposit entries, account reconciliations, account closures, address changes, and provide statement printouts and check copy requests.

Manage incoming calls, directing them appropriately, taking messages, and returning calls as necessary.


Keep a daily balancing record by accurately managing cash, identifying overages and shortages, selling excess cash to the vault, and maintaining established cash levels in the drawer.

Sort, count, and prepare money for transfer to the vault.

Be proficient in banking software and assist in training new employees on teller responsibilities.


Regular attendance is crucial for this role to ensure in-person customer interactions.


Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Compliance and Security:


Take ownership of compliance with all relevant banking laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures, management directives, and security protocols.

Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all job aspects.

Ensure confidentiality of all customer, colleague, and bank information.

Access private information only as necessary for your role, being mindful of others who may overhear conversations or view sensitive information.


Proactively safeguard the bank and its customers against fraudulent activities by staying informed on fraud alerts and discussing specific transactions with customers to prevent potential losses.

Initiate a Suspicious Activity Report (SARF) when necessary.

Complete all required annual compliance training and continuing education to remain updated on bank policies, regulations, and licensing requirements.

Be vigilant about bank security and adhere to the bank's security policies. Report any situations that may pose a security risk to management.

Additional Responsibilities:
Welcome customers in the lobby.

May receive training to open new accounts.

Keep management informed of area activities and any significant issues.

Engage in community service and bank-sponsored events.


Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service, demonstrating self-governance, courtesy, and respect towards customers and colleagues alike.

Complete required training courses within designated time frames.


Represent the bank professionally, which includes maintaining a professional appearance, confidentiality, a proactive attitude, good attendance, punctuality, and adaptability to meet the needs of the bank and its customers.

Maintain a tidy work area and participate in meetings as required.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent

Six months of cash handling and customer service experience

Previous experience in a teller role is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate the Intranet, create and retrieve documents, and utilize software applications.

Work Environment:
Must be able to perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared workspace with a moderate noise level.

If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
