Key Responsibilities
The Vascular Access Nurse will:
- Specialize in vascular access, offering consultation and treatment for various IV access methods, including PICC lines, midline catheters, and ultrasound-guided peripheral IVs.
- Adhere to evidence-based practices and comply with relevant nursing regulations and standards.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, interpret clinical data, and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.
- Educate patients and their families on the management of central lines and strategies to prevent complications.
- Assess and insert appropriate vascular access devices for patients requiring long-term therapy.
Duties Include
- Evaluating patients with challenging access needs to determine suitable vascular access devices.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure timely assessment and implementation of vascular access devices.
- Providing education on vascular access to patients, families, and staff.
- Reviewing physician orders and obtaining necessary consents.
- Documenting all procedures and patient interactions accurately in medical records.
- Monitoring patients for adverse reactions and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintaining a supportive environment conducive to healing through patient engagement and education.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A valid RN license in the State of California.
- A nursing degree (BSN or MSN) from an accredited institution.
- Current BLS certification.
- A minimum of 12 months of relevant acute care experience.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and IV insertion.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Work Environment
