Assembler I Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Assembler I to join our team at Ditch Witch. As an Assembler I, you will be responsible for performing mechanical work building machinery using various hand and power tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, production records, and technical documents to understand assembly requirements.
  • Fabricate and assemble machinery components using vises, clamps, wrenches, and air-powered tools.
  • Operate equipment to move and check its functions, observing and evaluating equipment performance.
  • Use a computer to check part locations, inventory, and routing.
  • Record information electronically and maintain production records.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic mechanical skills and aptitude, with experience in mechanical assembly or repair a plus.
  • Ability to understand written instructions, maintain production records, and perform routine calculations.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing plant conditions with variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt.
  • Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, compressed air power supplies, and materials handling.
  • Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, paint, and fuels.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Regularly handle items weighing up to 60 pounds from floor to knuckle.
  • Regularly pull or push items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly lift items weighing up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.
  • Regularly lift items weighing up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
  • Frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Occasional sitting, twisting, elevated work, and continuous standing.
