Job Summary

Raba Kistner Inc. is a leading engineering consulting and program management firm seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Laboratory Technician to join our team in the McAllen, TX and Brownsville, TX area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sampling and Testing: Conduct sampling, processing, and testing of materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications, including proper documentation of testing results.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment, and maintain a neat, clean, and safe laboratory and work space.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Properly document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts, and maintain accurate records of testing results and equipment maintenance.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all testing and sampling procedures are conducted in accordance with established quality control protocols, and maintain relevant certifications to include regular review of pertinent testing methods.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel, and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: High School diploma, G.E.D., or possess at least one current relevant industry certification, such as ACI Field, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregates, TxDOT SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, 1A or 1B or other comparable industry certifications as required.
  • Work Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in the field of soils and materials testing.
  • Skills and Abilities: Good oral and written communication skills, ability to read and understand procedures, specifications, instruction, labels, reports, etc. Must have some knowledge of basic math and science to analyze lab results.
Work Environment

The Laboratory Technician will work in a laboratory setting, with potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites, hazardous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work may require out-of-town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
