Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Physical Therapist Assistant to work with our interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical therapy and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement physical therapy services in accordance with the plan of treatment developed by the PT and signed by the physician, planned, delegated, and supervised by the RPT.
  • Collaborate with the RPT in measuring the client's functional level by applying appropriate tests and reporting results to PT.
  • Implement client care plan activities based on treatment goals towards independent living for the client/family as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Provide clear direction to clients during visits and communicate goals for the next visit.
  • Observe and document the effectiveness of interventions on the physical therapy visit report and report to PT.
  • Confer with RPT for referrals to internal and external community resources to meet client outcomes when appropriate.
  • Treat clients to relieve pain, develop and restore function, and maintain maximum performance using appropriate physical therapy treatments, modalities, and procedures as stated in the physical therapy plan of care.
  • Teach and supervise clients and family regarding alternative techniques to complete activities of daily living, proper transfers, and positioning.
  • Instruct and advise clients, family, and other health team personnel on certain phases of physical therapy in which they may assist the client; also instruct all of the above in the use of prosthetic and orthotic devices and durable medical equipment if appropriate.
  • Identify team members and their roles in case management activity and work collaboratively with them.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree Program for Physical Therapy Assistants.
  • A minimum of one-year recent clinical experience.
  • Current license in the State of Maine as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Must have a reliable automobile with a current Maine driver's license.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
