About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer or Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Brookhaven National Laboratory. As a key member of our Magnet Division, you will play a critical role in designing superconducting magnets and associated tooling and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop component and equipment designs using 3D modeling and design software
  • Support design and safety reviews
  • Prepare and document fabrication drawings
  • Support fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and other technical staff
Requirements
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus:
  • - a BS degree in a technical field and 6 years relevant work experience or;
  • - a technical institute, Adult BOCES certification, AA degree in a technical field, CCI program completion at BNL plus 10 years relevant experience or;
  • - a technical high school certification program (eg. BOCES) and 11 years relevant work experience or;
  • - 12 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using CREO /PTC to create models, designs and mechanical manufacturing drawings
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Ability to review and check the 3D models and fabrication drawings of other design group staff
What We Offer

Brookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $91,400 - $/year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
