About the Role

Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to join our team in the Allied Health Programs department. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to adult learners in a variety of settings, including classroom, online, and hybrid formats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective didactic and skills instruction to adult learners
  • Maintain a positive and safe learning environment that promotes student success
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, and serve as a role model and advocate for student success
  • Hold review, remediation, and office hour sessions for students
  • Maintain participation and performance records, and collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development and instructional design
  • Provide timely and appropriate responses to student, staff, and partner inquiries, and report incidents as necessary
  • Participate in professional development and partner onboarding requirements, and maintain professional competence and certifications/licensure
  • Assist in student recruitment activities, and may be required to perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or higher in a relevant healthcare field
  • Two years of direct patient care experience in a relevant healthcare field
  • Current certification or licensure in a relevant healthcare field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to community college philosophy and student success
  • Current AHA-BLS CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant healthcare field
  • Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college setting
  • Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses
  • Experience using Canvas or similar learning management systems
  • Recent experience preparing adult students for success on credentialing exams
