Overview:


This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and acceptability of specimens for testing and/or blood components, conducting laboratory analyses, reporting results, and addressing technical or physiological issues related to unexpected test outcomes. Additionally, it involves performing equipment maintenance and quality control functions.

We actively promote a Lean work culture by engaging in team responsibilities to ensure the consistent application of Lean principles and continuous improvement of processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the acceptability of specimens and/or blood components, conduct laboratory tests, and communicate critical results in line with laboratory policies for the assigned section or shift.
  • Identify normal, abnormal, and critical test results, resolving instrument-related or unexpected outcomes.
  • Comprehend and adhere to Lean principles and processes, such as maintaining standard work and the 5S concept in the workspace, recognizing that all processes are driven by customer needs.
  • Initiate, execute, review, and troubleshoot quality control for reagents and testing systems.
  • Maintain all clinical competencies required in the section and perform in accordance with laboratory policies to ensure accurate test results and documentation.
  • Operate and conduct daily preventive maintenance on equipment as per established procedures; report malfunctions and request service as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, or other requestors through various methods while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Actively engage in inventory management and supply chain operations by applying Lean principles.
  • Seek out, initiate, and participate in quality improvement initiatives, sharing insights with team members and leaders.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration through positive interactions with colleagues.
  • Cultivate a trusting and secure work environment through supportive interactions.
  • Take ownership of performance and align individual activities with organizational goals.
  • Recognize the value of work performed for customers, making informed decisions and striving for process improvements.
  • Maintain readiness for inspections, demonstrating knowledge of current regulatory requirements and participating in quality assurance activities.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related scientific discipline.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Certification or eligibility for certification in medical technology is required, with certification to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
