Job Overview

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

The Electrical Foreman is accountable for delivering expert craftsmanship in the upkeep and installation of electrical systems. This role involves supervising the Electrical craft team members to ensure high standards of work.

Cooperation within a team setting, adherence to supervisory guidance, compliance with work protocols, consistent attendance, and receptiveness to constructive feedback are essential. Performance should align with the established benchmarks, objectives, and responsibilities of the role. Team members are also tasked with fostering an inclusive workplace that supports affirmative action and employment-related goals. Alignment with Mortenson's values and ethical standards, as outlined in the Mortenson Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, is crucial, along with adherence to the procedures and practices detailed in the Mortenson Operations Manual.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  1. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, utilizing hand tools and power tools.
  2. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  3. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure system compatibility and safety.
  4. Install, repair, and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system components in accordance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  5. Review plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to ascertain work requirements and repair or installation sequences.
  6. Repair and maintain high voltage systems.
  7. Organize work by receiving and reviewing work orders; gather necessary tools and supplies.
  8. Interpret prints, layout work, and install new service.
  9. Address electrical issues by replacing defective parts and components.
  10. Maintain electrical systems through conducting system tests and fulfilling preventive maintenance requirements.
  11. Ensure readiness of supplies by placing orders as needed.
  12. Uphold a safe work environment by adhering to standards and procedures; comply with relevant codes.
  13. Enhance job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and reviewing technical publications.
  14. Lead team members by example, providing effective coaching and feedback, and managing performance effectively.
  15. Build and maintain relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
  16. Perform all other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Proficient in spoken and written English; Spanish proficiency is advantageous.
  2. Ability to interpret plans.
  3. Demonstrated emotional intelligence, being aware of personal and others' emotions.
  4. Competence in operating equipment such as table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  3. Trade or technical school certification/diploma.
  4. Completion of an apprentice aptitude test.
  5. Union-specific training.
  6. Project-specific/Mortenson training.
  7. A valid driver's license.
