Job Title: Vocational Specialist

Merrick, Inc. is seeking a skilled Vocational Specialist to join our team. As a Vocational Specialist, you will play a critical role in helping clients with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities achieve their employment goals.

Job Summary:

The Vocational Specialist will work closely with clients to identify their strengths, interests, and career aspirations. You will develop and implement personalized employment plans, providing training and support to help clients acquire the skills and confidence needed to secure minimum-wage jobs in the general workforce.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments to identify client job seekers' strengths and interests
  • Develop and implement personalized employment plans
  • Provide training and support to help clients acquire hard and soft skills
  • Assist clients in developing resumes, cover letters, and interviewing skills
  • Manage a caseload of client job seekers and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure their Community Support Plan is being met
  • Secure outsourced jobs and provide meaningful work to onsite clients
  • Accurately complete paperwork and attend meetings as assigned
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or college degree is preferred, and an Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators certificate specializing in Customized Employment is required
  • At least one year of documented experience providing Vocational Rehabilitation Services to adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities
  • Ability to use electronic devices, including databases and internet-based applications
  • Excellent writing and computer skills
  • A valid class 'D' driver's license and personal vehicle insurance coverage of $100,000 injury/$50,000 damage is required
