Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Para Educator to support students with significant disabilities in a specialized program. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with certified staff to provide individualized support and instruction to students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with activities of daily living, including toileting, feeding, and adaptive skills.
  • Provide physical, health, and safety support for students, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.
  • Offer social, emotional, behavioral, and educational support to students with significant disabilities, promoting their independence and self-advocacy.
  • Implement components of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and collect functional behavior assessment data as required.
  • Collaborate with staff to provide coaching and support, ensuring a cohesive and effective team approach.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Completion of a registered apprenticeship program, ETS Paraeducator Assessment, Associate of Arts degree, or 72 quarter credits/48 semester credits at an institution of higher education.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and completion of specified courses related to the General Paraeducator Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with students in self-contained learning settings.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training and Right Response Training.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent changes in priorities and tasks. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, push, pull, and move objects, and work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and community centers.

Benefits

The Bellevue School District offers a competitive salary range of $32.98-$35.31 per hour, 34 hours per week, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance. Retirement is provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
