Position Overview

Role Summary:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. All tasks are performed under the guidance of a licensed Pharmacist.

Shift Compensation Details:

  • Weekday Differential:
  • Evening: $1.87/hr
  • Night: $2.22/hr
  • Weekend Differential: $1.00/hr

This role is eligible for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, offering $1500 in commitment incentives distributed over a two-year period. Payments are made after six months, one year, and two years of service.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Compounds and/or prepares medications (including sterile products, oral, topical, controlled substances, etc.) as authorized by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
2. Delivers and exchanges medications to the appropriate patient area and returns unused medications to the pharmacy.
3. Documents pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing for medications and equipment, quality control requirements, etc., ensuring data accuracy through automated and manual systems.
4. Responds to and triages customer requests for assistance with pharmacy services such as medication delivery and drug information.
5. Operates and supports automated dispensing technology to ensure correct medications are supplied for individual patients, according to pharmacist and physician orders.
6. Manages inventory by ordering, receiving, restocking, and rotating supplies, while completing expiration date management.
7. Assists in training new employees, providing education on job-specific functions.
8. Contributes to process improvement initiatives.
9. Completes regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including inspections and/or controlled substance inventories, as required.

Additional Information

Education Requirements:
● No specific education required as long as other position qualifications are met. Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
·CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:

  • Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
  • Prior IV sterile compounding experience is preferred.
