Pharmacy Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain new patient clinical and prescription plan coverage information, review new prescriptions and/or existing prescriptions.
  • Create patient profiles in the pharmacy information system and enter new patient prescription information.
  • Address insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists.
  • Participate in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
  • Prepare inventory reports for pharmacist review and purchase.
  • Submit, receive, and place inventory in stock.
  • Answer inbound telephone calls and triage calls as appropriate.
  • Assist with reviewing and handling adjudicated prescription claims.
  • Intervene with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience.
  • Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, services, and drug interactions.
