Job Title: Supervising Analyst

Job Summary:

The Judicial Council of California is seeking a highly skilled Supervising Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing the governance of the Judicial Branch Statistical Information System (JBSIS) and providing technical assistance to trial courts on data reporting, data mapping, data definitions, and use of the JBSIS interface.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage JBSIS through all stages of the data lifecycle, including data collection standards, data quality, data sharing, and data retention.
  • Directly provide and guide a team in providing technical assistance to trial courts on questions related to data reporting, data mapping, data definitions, and use of the JBSIS interface.
  • Lead responsibility for publishing the Court Statistics Report: determine the procedures, staffing, and timeframe for compiling, validating, and publishing the CSR annually.
  • Data and research consulting to enhance data quality, data collection, and efficiency/effectiveness of data collected.
  • Modernize data delivery in partnership with JCIT and Statewide Data Warehouse project.

Working Conditions:

The SIU team is based in San Francisco, and the successful candidate will be expected to work in person at the Judicial Council's San Francisco office and reside in the area surrounding this location. The Judicial Council is an on-premises workplace; however, this position is eligible to work remotely three days per week.

Special Requirements:

  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Supervising, monitoring, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Coordinating deadlines, prioritizing competing demands, and assigning work.
  • Providing conflict resolution.
  • Providing project management, organization, and logistics.
  • Monitoring project schedules, status, and compliance.
  • Exercising political acumen, tact, and diplomacy with internal and external stakeholders and clients.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards with broad agency-wide applications.
  • Overseeing quality assurance and standards.
  • Monitoring and researching industry trends, solutions, and best practices.
  • Authoring and editing complex reports and documents.
  • Exercising confidentiality.
  • Utilizing a computer, relevant software applications, and/or other equipment as assigned.
  • Effectively communicating.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and the public.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of statistical software such as R and Stata.
  • Knowledge of database management software, such as SQL and others.
  • Principles of research, analysis, data management.
  • Data visualization skills and software, such as Power BI, Tableau.
  • Knowledge of court case processing practices, court operations, and state government.
