About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at Aggreko. As a Controls Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) controllers and hybrid controllers for various Aggreko applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement proof of concept for applications involving multiple generator and BESS systems
  • Design and develop sub-system functions for BESS in Isochronous (UF Mode), Droop, and PQ modes
  • Lead FAT and SAT requirements and conduct tests at Aggreko depots or supplier sites, documenting test results and presenting reports to stakeholders
  • Verify and demonstrate upcoming projects to prove control solutions
  • Tailor and conduct training plans for regional teams on control solutions, and support site installations for complex or new applications
  • Advise sales teams on control solutions for complex tenders, conduct market analysis of available control solutions suitable for Aggreko, and present findings in review meetings
  • Publish white papers on new control solutions or applications, act as a point of contact for regions to review and discuss application requirements and ensure effective communication of findings and solutions
  • Provide ongoing support for control solutions, including during site installations and complex applications, ensuring smooth implementation and operational efficiency
Requirements
  • Electrical, Electronic, or Controls Engineering degree minimum (or equivalent)
  • Understanding of IEC61131 ST programming, CODESYS programming capability and knowledge of controls solutions for BESS and Generators and Power Systems/BESS inverter capabilities
  • At least 3 years of experience in controls development, testing, simulation, applications in the rental space, and energy Storage Systems, Renewables, and Hybrids, including product testing and terminologies
  • Understanding of the applications of BESS and Gensets (e.g., Deif, ComAP, DeepSea), and hybrid control solutions for various Aggreko applications
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all levels of stakeholders (internal and external) and a proven track record of leading and managing a team, fostering a high performing
