Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The ideal candidate will have experience working with adult inpatient populations, with a preference for those with forensic experience.
**Assignment Details:**
* Available to start immediately (pending credentialing)
* Initial appointment for 3-month assignment, with option to extend 3-6 months if position remains unfilled
* Full-time, 40 hours a week with assigned office hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour lunch break, no alternative schedules accepted
* NOT approved for overtime
* No weekends, no holidays, no on-call duty
* Ability to provide cross-coverage, including forensic populations, as required
* Participation in Lunch Coverage Call (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) once a month
**Qualifications:**
* 3+ years of experience as a Physician/Practitioner
* Strong experience working with patients with Serious Mental Illness (SMI)
* Psychiatric Crisis Management and Forensic experience, a plus
* Experience working with adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult and geriatric
**Responsibilities:**
* Responsible for patient care, including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient
* Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders
* Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures
* Monitors patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed
* Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical
* Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed
* Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices
* Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines
**Facility Information:**
* Acute, Adult, Inpatient wards (male & female)
* Forensic, NGRI, Civil, Jail Transfer, and Geriatric populations
* Short and Long-term length of stay
* Caseload varies by ward and assignment
* Psychiatry coverage is provided
* Full complement of interdisciplinary team members
