Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Construction Technician to join our Benton Harbor, MI office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Documentation and Testing: Document field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications.
- Field Testing: Complete field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications.
- Grade Shooting: Proficient with shooting grades.
- Log and Documentation: Maintain official project log and documentation files.
- Contract Administration: Direct activities related to project construction contracts administration, including drawings process, field observations, reports, change orders, and pay requests.
- Project Inspection: Plan and coordinate project field inspection activities and reviews the work of inspectors and technicians to ensure compliance with job specifications (DWR approval).
- Construction Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction.
- Engineering Support: Assist Engineers in completion of construction administration in accordance with contracts.
- Project Meetings: May organize and lead project meetings (precon, progress, etc.).
- Education: High School Graduate.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: OSHA 10, Troxler Safety & Hazmat Safety Training, and 5+ years' experience with Materials Testing and DOT Certifications required. Michigan: MDEQ Construction Site Stormwater Operator, MDEQ SESC Certification, ACEC Materials Acceptance Training, MDOT Prevailing Wage Training, MDOT Bridge Construction, ACI/MCA Concrete Certification, MDOT Density, MDOT HMA certification, and MDOT Underground Pipe Installation & Inspection certification with 5+ years MDOT experience required.
- Work Experience/Qualifications: 5+ Years.
- Typical Office Environment: Typical office environment with some work performed outside on a project site. May be exposed to extreme temperatures. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety boots/shoes, hard hat, safety vest, etc.
