Afero is seeking a seasoned Firmware Test Engineer to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 10 years of experience testing firmware on consumer electronics devices, you will be responsible for designing and developing automated test frameworks to validate system firmware running on hardware platforms.

We are looking for an expert who can independently dig into complexity, build new solutions, and increase effectiveness in a collaborative environment. As a key part of scaling and evolving Afero's platform, you will have a significant impact across engineering and on the company.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of microcontroller architectures, processor datasheets, and low-level APIs. Experience with Python-based automation, PySerial, libusb, and embedded systems is highly desirable. You will also need to be comfortable working with test frameworks, end-to-end testing of devices, and cloud and mobile apps.

In this role, you will design automation labs to run validation tests and collect performance metrics. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will need to write clear and well-constructed bug reports, test cases, and documentation. The salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $175,000 - $215,000 per year. This includes base salary only; we also offer competitive benefits and equity compensation.
