Job SummaryThe Executive Director, Laboratory Science is responsible for establishing, evaluating, and overseeing the operations, policies, and procedures of the Animal Care Facility (ACF), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Human Embryonic Stem Cell Committee (SCRO), and research Laboratory Safety Office.
Key Responsibilities- Train faculty, researchers, and staff on federal, state, and local regulations and laws pertaining to animal research.
- Provide guidance on these requirements and ensure compliance.
- Oversee the complete operation of the TSRI animal care facility (ACF) in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, USDA regulations, PHS policy, and AAALAC accreditation standards.
- Lead and maintain AAALAC accreditation.
- Ensure all activities within laboratory science are performed in accordance with the goals, directives, and policies of Research Operations and CHLA.
Minimum qualifications include 10+ years of animal laboratory experience, rodent husbandry, handling, and clinical knowledge, and at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity. A PhD in a biological discipline or DVM is required.
