Emory Healthcare is seeking a skilled Gastrointestinal Diagnostic Laboratory Technician to join our team at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. As a key member of our endoscopy team, you will be responsible for assisting physicians in performing routine and complex gastro-intestinal diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians in performing gastro-intestinal diagnostic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and endoscopy.
- Orient and train lower-level technicians, providing pre- and post-operative education to patients.
- Coordinate with other hospital departments to schedule patient procedures, order supplies, and conduct in-service education to other staff members.
- Operate specialized equipment, including endoscopes, light sources, and GID accessory equipment, and perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Set up and assist gastroenterologists with procedures, including gastroscopy, dilatation, colonoscopy, and other related procedures.
- Monitor vital signs during endoscopy or recovery room procedures and notify physicians of any abnormalities or significant changes.
- Two years of experience as a Gastro-Intestinal Diagnostic Laboratory Technician.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for long periods.
