In the initial 12-24 months as an Automation Engineer at Wagstaff, you will have the chance to engage in extensive domestic and international travel as part of your training program. The frequency of travel will notably decrease following the training phase.

Compensation:
$65,000. The target compensation is $85,000, in addition to travel allowances.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct installation and commissioning of equipment at client facilities in collaboration with the Automated Systems Group and Mechanical Engineering
Complete job-specific training on various subjects
Achieve proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and commissioning PLC and SCADA automation software for diverse industrial machine controls, including Ladder Logic, Python, Factory Talk, Studio 5000, TIA Portal, SQL, Ge iFix, Ignition, C, C++

Design, install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair various electrical control panels, process instruments, VFDs, servos, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems for industrial automation control systems.

Design, construct, and troubleshoot digital and analog electronic circuits and embedded systems
Develop a comprehensive technical understanding of casting equipment and process controls to serve as a support resource and subject matter expert
Deliver Technical Service to clients in response to emergency calls or service requests for troubleshooting and repairs
Provide training to client personnel on PLC-based automation system operation and maintenance during commissioning or in response to independent requests
Engage in product development initiatives
Participate in research activities related to aluminum casting technologies
Assist in preparing PLC and SCADA packages for projects in coordination with Project Managers and other engineers involved in the commissioning process
Attend Engineering Design Review meetings at client sites
Work Environment:

While performing duties at Wagstaff, work is primarily conducted in a well-lit, climate-controlled office environment.

Close computer work is regularly required. The work typically involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the office environment is generally moderate.

This role may require occasional or frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing floor.

While on the shop floor, the employee may encounter fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks from moving equipment and parts, and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment.

Due to these conditions, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.

The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.

This position may also necessitate occasional or frequent travel to and work at client sites.

While at client locations, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks from moving equipment and parts, and other hazards typical of a construction and/or manufacturing environment.

Due to these conditions, coordination with client managers/employees may be necessary before entering the site, and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.

The noise level at client sites is often loud.
