Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist (Inpatient) to join our team at Ansible Government Solutions. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for dispensing medications, maintaining patient records, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications.

Responsibilities
  • Dispense medications to patients, including sterile compounded products, and maintain related records.
  • Prepare, package, and label medication doses prescribed by physicians.
  • Maintain inventories of drugs and supplies, stocking shelves, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates.
  • Fill and stock medications in automated devices, documenting lot and expiration dates in computerized logs.
  • Operate various types of pharmacy automation, including Med Carousel, ScriptPro, Pick Point, and Omnicell automated dispensing equipment.
  • Read computer screens, use scanning equipment, and select specific drugs/products required to fill an order by name, strength, and National Drug Code (NDC) number.
  • Clean cells and perform first-level preventative maintenance, including cleaning lights, vacuuming, and making minor adjustments to equipment.
  • Process refill requests and print prescription labels using computerized software programs.
  • Answer telephone calls from patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, referring to computerized prescription profiles to respond to inquiries.
  • Document interactions with patients and staff appropriately, including documentation in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) when required.
  • Verify patient identity prior to communicating patient health information, using two identifiers as defined by the medical center.
  • Participate in managing patient prescription processing time while meeting required department-specific metrics and monitors.
  • Organize, file, and maintain dispensing documents, original prescriptions, and other required documentation in accordance with federal regulations and state laws.
  • Fill a full range of standard drug, ostomy, and disposable medical supply prescriptions using prepackaged drugs, consumer packs, robot cassettes, and manufacturer bulk products.
  • Perform inspections of assigned areas, including outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, and inpatient pharmacies, ensuring proper stock rotation and expiration date/lot number validity.
  • Electronically log discharge, shuttled, runner, and tubed prescriptions using ScriptPro.
  • Notify and/or clarify orders needing special handling, such as refrigeration, with pharmacists and patients as necessary.
  • Deliver prepared totes to travel, ensuring disposition of items for Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) is initiated by transferring such items to the travel department.
  • Packages verified mail prescriptions in the appropriate mailer or box, ensuring proper handling, such as refrigeration or padding.
  • Scan and create barcodes for robot prescription processing using dedicated computerized software programs.
  • Fills CBOC and primary care clinic orders, including Omnicell restock reports, ensuring a proper supply of medication is available.
  • Replenishes medications in clinics using sophisticated computer software: Omnicell, Pick Point.
  • Replenishes filling areas with vials, caps, labels, logbooks, paper bags, and other supplies as needed.
  • Communicate and interact with internal and external customers, including patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Operate the telephone, transferring calls and placing calls on hold, handling calls efficiently and appropriately.
  • Answer the door, allowing only authorized individuals to enter, and escorting individuals to necessary areas of the pharmacy.
  • Prepare and fill medication orders for bubble packing for State Veterans Home or Contracted Long-term Care Facility as appropriate.
  • Process audio renewal orders through notes or right-click-renew feature, and process refill mail slips through VISTA.
  • Route prepared prescriptions to appropriate pneumatic tube stops.
Requirements
  • US Citizen
  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited college or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property
  • Licensed for controlled substances, with qualifications to practice in any states
  • No sponsorship available
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
