**Role of the Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)**

In this role, the Registered Nurse will deliver professional nursing care to patients while adhering to national and organizational standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. The RN will:

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care in alignment with established standards.
  • Assess health status through patient interviews regarding current conditions and medical history.
  • Identify patient and family needs, providing educational resources and support.
  • Offer psychosocial support to patients and their families.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under physician supervision.
  • Administer medications and blood products accurately.
  • Facilitate dose modifications by assessing patient conditions and consulting treatment protocols.
  • Perform venipuncture and manage central line access.
  • Support clinical operations and enhance patient care.
  • Manage medication refill requests and document pertinent information.
  • Triage patient inquiries and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Assist patients in accessing community resources.


**Qualifications**

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of RN experience.
  • Consideration for entry, mid, or senior-level candidates.
  • A current RN state license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


**Working Conditions**

This role may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions typical of an oncology clinic environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

**Physical Requirements**

The physical demands of this position include a full range of motion, manual dexterity, and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 40 lbs is required. Vision and hearing must be within normal ranges.
