Position Overview:
The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the sourcing of ingredients for Sukhi's Gourmet Indian Foods. This individual will collaborate closely with various departments including Marketing, Research & Development, Warehouse, and Production to ensure that both immediate and future needs are met efficiently. The specialist will also engage with suppliers to stay informed about market dynamics that may influence supply and demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships while negotiating pricing and terms, including annual agreements.
- Create and implement policies and procedures for the acquisition of goods and services.
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions that could impact material costs and availability.
- Oversee inventory levels and lead times, proactively identifying potential risks.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain a preferred supplier program.
- Conduct monthly reviews of inventory to identify potentially obsolete materials.
- Source alternative suppliers to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Participate actively in the quarterly physical inventory assessment.
- Evaluate and assess vendor performance regularly.
- Engage in project work, including updating product specifications as needed.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred.
- Five to ten years of procurement experience within the food sector.
- Experience working with co-packers is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for procurement.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning systems.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- In-depth market knowledge with a keen ability to identify trends.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, planning, negotiation, and prioritization skills.
- Resourceful and proactive, with a proven track record of completing projects.
- Ability to effectively manage conflict and resolve issues.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Creative problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.
- Ability to build rapport with suppliers.
- Advanced negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
