Job Description: Early Childhood Education Specialist

The Early Childhood Education Specialist is responsible for implementing a program aimed at preparing children aged 3-5 years for kindergarten by enhancing family and community involvement in early learning. This position is part of the Greene County Schools team and reports directly to the district administration.

The Early Childhood Education Specialist works closely with the Kindergarten Readiness Lead Associate from Save the Children to ensure effective program execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment and Enrollment: Recruit and enroll 40 children aged 3-5 years and their parents/caregivers, with a focus on those not currently involved in preschool activities.
  • Organizing 'Play and Learn' Groups: Conduct at least 3 sessions per month to promote interactive activities that support children's cognitive development at home.
  • 'Parent Academy Workshop': Host at least 1 session per month to provide caregivers with valuable knowledge and skills to enhance their child's readiness for kindergarten.
  • Bookworm Program: Distribute books and conduct literacy activities monthly to increase access to early learning materials.
  • Family Conferences: Schedule 4 individual check-ins per year with each caregiver, focusing on family well-being, engagement, and goals.
  • Conduct Screenings and Assessments: Administer prescribed assessments to all caregivers and children according to program guidelines.
  • Kindergarten Transition Support: Offer guidance on local kindergarten expectations and assist families in navigating the transition process.
