Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Research and Development team at FANUC America Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the development, validation, and support of new mechanical products for the robotics painting market.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Selecting, sizing, and packaging mechanical components
  • Developing component and assembly designs using Solid Edge and Solidworks CAD software
  • Updating, modifying, and releasing drawings using Solid Edge and Solidworks CAD software
  • Defining and implementing required analysis for mechanical design problems
  • Troubleshooting and investigating customer issues involving mechanical robot hardware
  • Reviewing and rationalizing commercial component options for a design
  • Designing castings, weldments, drive components, and various other machined parts
  • Utilizing dimensions and tolerances, including GD&T, to define fits and manufacturing instructions for new and existing components
  • Resolving design feedback from customers, suppliers, and the robot factory
  • Estimating the duration and labor cost to complete a proposed design
  • Developing simple project schedules
  • Releasing components and BOM's in the Oracle ERP system
  • Developing and executing paint product validation and performance tests
  • Working in interdepartmental teams to concurrently create new robotic painting systems
  • Creating technical procedures and content for product documentation

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Preferred related experience in machine design and analysis
  • Preferred 1+ year industry experience with 3D CAD (i.e. Solid Edge, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering drawings
  • Basic aptitude for mechanisms
  • Ability to use or willingness to learn Ansys and Mathcad
  • Ability to use or willingness to learn basic communication tools, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to learn operation and programming of FANUC robots
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer and supplier sites
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use basic hand tools
