Job Summary

Rigaku Americas is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the Quality and Manufacturing Departments in our Auburn Hills office. The successful candidate will contribute to on-going tooling and product development projects, utilizing their expertise in high-precision mechanical design, cleanroom compatibility, and basic electromechanics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily activities of the Quality and Manufacturing Departments
  • Analyze mechanical designs and drawings to identify areas of critical fitment
  • Devise and document machine modifications for in-house rework
  • Drive engineering changes and collaborate with Manufacturing to implement design improvements
  • Design, build, and test Opto and Electromechanical parts and assemblies
  • Utilize FEA to quantify and optimize mechanical performance
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers in R&D to turn new technologies into refined products and processes
  • Mitigate risk in design by studying prior art and adapting proven concepts
  • Apply knowledge of metallurgy, surface quality control, kinematic design, DFA, and DFM to bring new products and features to market
  • Generate mechanical drawings and detail for manufacturing with GD&T
  • Prepare documentation and provide technical support for prototype builds and manufacturing releases

Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of professional work experience
  • Basic competency with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of GD&T, familiarity with engineering workflows and design practices preferred
