Job Description:
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a skilled Assembly and Test Specialist to join our team in Decatur, IL. As a vital part of our manufacturing process, you will be responsible for assembling and testing machine components, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test machine components to meet safety and quality standards
- Operate test machines to test final drive assemblies
- Prepare prime products and attachments for shipping
- Perform salvage operations in assembly areas as necessary
- Disassemble and reassemble complex assemblies to repair or replace damaged component parts
- Operate remote control crane to transport prime product
Requirements:
- Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Mechanical background or industrial assembly experience
- Past assembly experience
- Comfortable working at heights up to 20 feet off the ground
- Ability to perform simple computer operations
- Understanding of hand and air tooling
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of standard and metric sizes and compatibility
- Previous overhead crane experience
- Understanding of 5S principles
- Forklift certification
- Ability to read and understand prints and 3D and 2D imagery
