Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Materials Process Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman Defense Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving standard and non-standard materials, parts, and processes selected for use in ICBM weapon system design. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring compliance with program requirements and providing technical guidance to early-mid career engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve materials, parts, and processes for use in ICBM weapon system design
  • Provide technical guidance to early-mid career engineers
  • Manage Bill-of-Materials, new part requests, and part attributes in a Product Lifecycle Management System
  • Work with design engineers to select and apply non-metallic materials systems
  • Advise on non-metallic materials/parts qualification, including requirements analysis and test plan review
  • Participate in technical discussions with subcontractors and internal/external customers
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 14 years of experience; 12 years with Master's Degree; 9 years of experience with a PhD
  • US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance and SAP clearance
  • Applicable materials and process engineering experience within military/defense industry
  • Experience with selection, qualification, and application of non-metallic parts, materials, and processes used in military applications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, or applicable STEM discipline
  • Familiarity with DoD/space/missile development programs and associated parts, materials, and process requirements
  • Experience with configuration management and technical review boards
