Position Summary: The role involves operating Class A trucks to transport materials efficiently to designated locations while adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to the position, though additional tasks may be assigned as necessary:
- Adheres to the safety program and regulations established by Commercial Steel Erection, Inc.
- Familiarizes oneself with OSHA and DOT standards relevant to transportation and fleet safety, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
- Acquaints with supervisory staff, job functions, hazard communication protocols, safety guidelines, and emergency procedures.
- Operates various equipment including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and man-lifts.
- Responsible for setting up and dismantling cranes as required.
- Keeps a detailed truck log in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Assembles, disassembles, and transports loads safely.
- Loads and unloads materials in a controlled manner to ensure the safety of personnel and property.
- Conducts daily inspections of the truck and equipment, checking for issues such as tire condition, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water; documents any deficiencies and reports them to dispatch.
- Performs emergency roadside repairs, including tire changes and light bulb installations.
- Cleans and refuels the truck upon returning to the yard.
- This position may involve additional duties or tasks as required by the company.
Qualifications: A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required. Candidates must meet the Motor Vehicle guidelines set by Commercial Steel Erection, Inc. Willingness to travel is essential. Applicants must present a current driving record during the interview process.
Work Environment: The employee will frequently work outdoors and may encounter various weather conditions and vibrations. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles may occur. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate.
