About the Position

This role will be responsible for performing equipment checks, maintenance, and repairs to ensure all equipment is safe and operational. The selected candidate will also be responsible for delivering and picking up state assets, as well as performing administrative tasks related to this job function. The position requires a Class A CDL with certain endorsements and experience operating a light truck and equipment trailers. The selected candidate will be paid at an hourly rate of $20.00 for administrative and/or warehouse/logistical responsibilities and at an hourly rate of $31.00 for CDL driving related responsibilities.

Job Duties

The selected candidate will be responsible for:
  • Performing weekly/monthly equipment checks to maintain equipment and ensure all equipment is safe and operational.
  • Maintaining all mobile fire and emergency service trailers, tools, and other technical equipment.
  • Delivering and picking up all state assets, whether in a training or response function.
  • Performing administrative tasks related to this job function, such as electronically documenting completed tasks, filing records, answering phone calls, and providing customer service.

Requirements

The selected candidate must have:
  • General knowledge of the operation and maintenance of small tools and equipment.
  • General knowledge of welding and the cutting of metals.
  • Ability to lift greater than 50 pounds, work overhead.
  • Considerable experience operating a light truck that is used to pull a wide variety of equipment trailers.
  • Considerable experience in general maintenance, repair, and fabrication of equipment.
  • Considerable experience operating a computer and experience in Microsoft office, Microsoft Suite, and Google platform.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) or ability to complete the course within the first twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Class A CDL with the following endorsements: Hazardous Material (H), Double and Triple Trailers (T), and Tank Vehicle (N).

Additional Considerations

The selected candidate should have knowledge of emergency service operations and be able to work a minimum of 20 hours or more per week.
