Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will have the chance to make a significant impact on patient care and outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care: You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for patients across various age groups. Your expertise will enable you to implement evidence-based care and evaluate patient responses to ensure optimal outcomes.
You will perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures, document patient findings accurately, and revise treatment plans as necessary. Your ability to educate patients and their families about preventative care, medical issues, and prescribed treatments will be invaluable in promoting health and well-being.
Prescriber Authority: As an Advanced Practice Nurse, you will prescribe and distribute medications, including controlled substances, while adhering to state protocols and hospital policies.
Documentation: Accurate documentation of patient care, orders, directives, and procedures is crucial in maintaining comprehensive records. Your attention to detail will ensure seamless communication with the healthcare team.
Education: You will serve as a clinical resource, precepting nurses, and guiding students. Your role model behavior will enhance professional growth and development within the organization.
Patient Safety: Your proactive approach to identifying and reporting potential safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses will contribute significantly to a safe patient environment.
Requirements:
- DNP or MSN in Nursing with relevant experience
- Current licensure as an APRN in the state of New Mexico
- Expertise in behavioral health
- Familiarity with electronic health records and practice management systems
- Certification in a relevant area of advanced practice nursing (optional)
