Key Responsibilities:

  • Treat patients with neuromusculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems by physical or mechanical means to maintain or restore function that has been impaired by injury or disease.
  • Administer physical therapy modalities as deemed necessary by the physical therapist and collaborate with the patient, their family, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Follow the plan of care for the patient and perform and administer physical therapy modalities as needed.
  • Collaborate with the physical therapist to develop and implement treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant Program
  • Current New Mexico Physical Therapist Assistant licensure and BLS certification required
  • Demonstrates accountability and skills in continued assessment, decision making, and time management
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, and organizational skills

Work Environment:

Works in a clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases, combative patients, and hazardous chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

Good physical condition with prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking. Lifts, positions, and transfers patients and manipulates occupied equipment. Lists supplies or equipment up to 50 lbs.
