Role of the Medical Assistant:

Under the direct supervision of healthcare professionals, the Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting physicians and clinicians with patient care responsibilities in a clinical setting. This includes promoting efficient patient flow and care, such as conducting exams and procedures. The Medical Assistant also undertakes various administrative tasks, including clerical duties, answering phone calls, and managing physicians' schedules. Adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:
- Escort patients to and from examination rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas as necessary.


- Document patient information prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication updates.

- Respond to patient phone inquiries for referrals to physicians or nurses/pharmacists.

- Execute additional administrative tasks such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception duties as requested by supervisors or physicians.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Medical Assistant position will possess the following qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Open to considering mid- or senior-level candidates.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification is required.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
- Some state regulations may necessitate specific certifications to practice as a Medical Assistant.
