Job Summary:

Evaluate patients with speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders using various therapeutic techniques. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to achieve patient goals. Provide instructions for continued therapy and coordinate activities with the team.

Responsibilities:

Examine, test, diagnose, and administer remedial treatments for patients with speech, hearing, and swallowing disorders.

Perform evaluations with special attention to receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, and auditory skills, and report on patient progress.

Provide instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.

Coordinate speech language pathology activities in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate achievement of goals established.

Conduct or participate in training medical and nursing personnel in speech language pathology techniques and objectives.

Utilize safe patient handling techniques for all patient transfers, lifts, and positioning.

Provide supervision of Rehab Aides as required by PA practice act.

Participate in mentoring of fellow staff and students as defined by clinical ladder.

Perform additional administrative duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, orientation, competency training, participation in peer/performance reviews, and in-services.

Requirements:

Master's degree in speech-language pathology required.

2 years of relevant experience required.

Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist upon hire required.

Basic Life Support upon hire required.
