Tallgrass is seeking a skilled Mechanic - Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of our natural gas liquid processing plants and facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and Maintain Equipment: Operate compressors, engines, auxiliary units, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, pumps, seals, valves, and related equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
- Monitor and Control Process Variables: Monitor and control process variables such as pressure, temperature, and flow rates to achieve desired operating results.
- Perform Maintenance and Repairs: Assist in the planning and performance of maintenance and repairs on compressors, engines, turbines, auxiliary equipment, pumps, process controls, and related equipment.
- Ensure Cost-Effective Operations: Ensure the cost-effective and efficient performance of all gas and liquid processing units and associated equipment.
- Monitor Product Quality: Monitor the quality of product to ensure it meets specifications and take appropriate actions when out-of-specification product is identified.
- Communicate with Stakeholders: Communicate with company control centers, business groups, and other operating groups as necessary, as well as with shippers concerning product movement.
- General Upkeep and Maintenance: Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
- Oversee Third-Party Activities: Oversee the construction, maintenance, and/or security activities performed by third parties.
- Identify and Report Safety and Environmental Concerns: Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Represent the Company: Represent the Company during contacts with landowners/tenants and public officials/emergency officials.
- Comply with Company Standards and Regulations: Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
- Work Rotating Shifts: Be available to work a rotating shift.
- Complete Documentation and Paperwork: Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
- Participate in Safety and Security Programs: Actively participate in safety and security programs and initiatives.
- Develop O&M Procedures: Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
- Perform Multiple Tasks: Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence, successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines, and organize and prioritize daily work.
- Interact with Colleagues and Customers: Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism, speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
- Meet Attendance and Performance Expectations: Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
- Work Non-Traditional Hours: Will work non-traditional hours as needed, assisting operations and weekend callout rotations.
- Prioritize Safety: Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience and Knowledge: Knowledge of compressor or pump station, gathering field, and processing plant operations, gas and liquid processing theories and fundamentals, operating costs associated with the equipment in area of responsibility, and willingness to achieve and maintain all Operator Qualifications (OQ) and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong mechanical aptitude on related equipment, basic math skills, good verbal and written communications skills, strong customer focus and attention to detail, ability to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job, ability to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
- Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations: May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties, must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
- Education: Associate's Degree in a related field.
- Experience and Knowledge: Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams, detailed knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and practices as well as regulatory and tariff requirements, detailed knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high/low pressure systems, previous welding experience, and current Commercial Driver's License.
