Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Assistant III to join our team at Central Arizona College. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of custodial tasks to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of our college facilities.

Responsibilities

Key Duties:

  • Perform custodial tasks in accordance with established guidelines to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Inspect areas for cleanliness and report any minor problems or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
  • Conduct nightly rounds to ensure doors and windows are secure and report any unusual activities to the authorities.
  • Operate and maintain hand and power equipment, and participate in scheduled end-of-semester cleanup procedures.
  • Perform basic maintenance duties, including landscaping, electrical and communications projects, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in stocking campus buildings with necessary supplies and participate in committee assignments.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of applicable experience in custodial services or a related field.
  • Focused training and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs).
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Arizona Driver's License and be insurable to drive college vehicles.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow directions and information on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Knowledge and skills in custodial maintenance methods and practices in public buildings.
  • Skill in communications and ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with college administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to plan, assign, schedule, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify problems and make necessary minor repairs.
Physical Requirements
  • Perform heavy manual labor requiring dexterity and physical steadiness.
  • Regularly stand and/or walk for seven (7) hours a day.
  • Frequently use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
