Job Summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our Rehabilitation team on a per diem day basis. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will evaluate and treat patients referred for speech, language, cognitive, and dysphagia dysfunction.

Responsibilities

Administer speech/language and or cognitive evaluations, tests or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairment.

Evaluate speech/language test results and medical or background information to determine speech impairment and treatment.

Counsel and instruct patients concerning communication disorders and how to cope with the stress and misunderstanding that may accompany them.

Provide patients, families and caregivers with ongoing counseling and education to facilitate communication.

Assist patients in developing and recovering reliable communication and swallowing skills to allow them to fulfill their educational, vocational and social roles.

Conduct speech pathology in-service training programs for rehabilitation staff.

Record and maintain reports of speech or swallowing treatments.

Formulate and implement group therapy programs to address the needs of impaired patients and their families.

Participate in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new speech pathology or speech/cognitive/language/dysphagia treatment methods or technology.
