Job Summary:

ASM Global is seeking an experienced Event Manager to join our team at the Shreveport Convention Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility operations related to events, including supervising staff, meeting with client groups, and coordinating activities with service contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff and oversee all aspects of facility operations related to events.
  • Meet with client groups to plan and organize assigned meetings and/or events.
  • Coordinate activities with the various service contractors for assigned meetings and/or events.
  • Guide clients in preparation of events by interpreting and explaining contract provisions, policies, and procedures.
  • Keep clients informed as to status of deadline schedules, including but not limited to floor plan submissions, meeting room set-up specifications, insurance requirements and other relevant details.
  • Prepare cost estimates and monitor final billing.
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely communication of detailed requirements to operational departments.
  • Assist in scheduling operational set-ups to provide equipment or service's needs.
  • Monitor facility set-up when necessary.
  • Assist in training event services staff.
  • Serve as primary liaison between clients and facility departments.
  • Monitor in-house events, maintaining close contact with clients and facility staff to ensure successful events.
  • Follow-up on all client requests, concerns, and problems.
  • Attend appropriate planning, organization and other event and facility meetings in support of facility operations.
  • Serve as manager on duty as required.

Requirements:

  • Directly supervise employees in the Events Department.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Appraise performance.
  • Reward employees.
  • Discipline employees in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.

Working Conditions:

The Event Manager will be required to work long and irregular hours, including day, evening, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to work flexible schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, including a credit history report, and meet corporate minimum requirements.
  • B.S. degree from a college or university.
  • At least 3 years of management-level or department head experience or equivalent experience.

Physical Demands:

The Event Manager will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to walk and/or stand for up to 8-10 hours daily.
