Position Overview:

Summit Health: Summit Health is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our OBGYN team. As an essential member of our healthcare staff, the LPN will play a vital role in executing care plans and ensuring exceptional patient experiences. The primary focus is to maintain a professional, efficient, and safe environment while managing patient flow effectively. The LPN will provide personal care, medical assistance, emotional support, and stay updated with the latest medical practices to enhance patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Interactions:

  • Greet patients warmly and escort them to examination rooms.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and medical procedures.
  • Clearly communicate treatment plans, medication instructions, and dietary guidelines.
  • Administer medications, including injections and IV therapy, as permitted by licensure.
  • Deliver basic patient care, such as wound dressing and catheterization.
  • Ensure accurate collection and processing of medical specimens.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of treatment rooms for patient visits.
  • Effectively utilize medical equipment relevant to the practice.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments as necessary.
  • Communicate any delays to patients promptly.

Documentation:

  • Accurately input patient information into the electronic health record system.
  • Assist in managing the physician's workflow efficiently.

Additional Duties:

  • Provide clerical support, including appointment scheduling and handling inquiries.
  • Manage medical supplies inventory and order as needed.
  • Work under the supervision of a physician or Registered Nurse.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current LPN licensure in the state of New York and/or Connecticut.
  • Preferred experience in IV therapy and/or phlebotomy.
  • Complete competency skill checklist within the initial three months of employment.
