Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Behavioral Health Services Director to join our team at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes for Behavioral Health Services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Quality and Appropriateness of Care: Ensure the quality and appropriateness of care provided to patients, and facilitate the establishment of unit-based quality improvement programs.
  2. Shared Decision-Making: Create an environment of shared decision-making, promoting multidisciplinary collaboration on patient care and related issues.
  3. Customer Relations: Promote positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors, and employees, and monitor patient, staff, and physician satisfaction.
  4. Staff Development: Plan, implement, and evaluate staff development and competency maintenance programs, ensuring that elements of performance improvement findings are incorporated into educational programs.
  5. Financial Management: Develop, implement, monitor, and adjust capital and operating budgets, providing variance reports and/or corrective action plans as requested.
  6. Business Planning: Develop business plans and/or requests for proposals as required.
  7. Human Resources: Interview, select, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and terminate unit personnel, ensuring that appropriate human resource activities are completed on a timely basis.
  8. Policies and Procedures: Ensure that all policies, procedures, and standards related to assigned unit/service areas are reviewed and revised as outlined by regulatory standards.
  9. Unit Goals and Objectives: Develop unit/service goals and objectives and strategies that promote the mission, vision, and values of the DMC, the individual operating unit, and clinical service.
  10. Communication: Maintain communication lines between self and staff and among staff, conducting regular staff meetings and providing opportunities for team building and problem-solving.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration, or related field.
  • Three to five years of experience, which may be concurrent clinical and/or progressively more responsible management experience.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data/information used to formulate/implement/monitor goals and objectives for patient services.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and teamwork skills to effectively perform as a manager in support of all services delivered on the patient unit.
  • Good reading, writing, and comprehension skills to understand, effectively communicate, and contribute to procedures/processes/orders/methods/standards.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and deal with stresses associated with a patient care environment.
  • Willingness to make a meaningful contribution to the work environment as evidenced through behavior and attitude.
  • Highly developed management skills essential to effectively supervise a large number of employees.
  • Ability to adapt to technologies used in the work environment.
