Job Summary:The Patient Care Associate (PCA) is a vital member of our patient care services team, responsible for providing technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the PCA will work collaboratively with the care team to ensure consistency and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care, promoting productive employee relations among staff members.
- Perform a variety of basic patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse, reporting changes in patient medical and/or emotional condition.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene regimes.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including continuous improvement initiatives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy, expressing interest in patient progress and answering questions from patients and their families.
- Perform general clerical duties as required by unit needs, including answering telephones and call lights, greeting patients and visitors.
- Enhance personal growth through participation in workshops, educational programs, in-service meetings, and reviewing current literature.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Graduation from a school of practical nursing or completion of a Certified PCA/PCT Program, Certified Nurse Assistant Program, Medical Assistant Program, EMT program, or phlebotomy training program.
