Job Summary

Microsoft Corporation is seeking an experienced employment attorney to join the Global Employment Law team as a Corporate Counsel for Global Employment Programs. This role will provide employment law advice on global human resources programs and business initiatives.

About the Role

As a Corporate Counsel for Global Employment Programs, you will act as the primary employment law advisor on global people programs. You will advise on the labor and employment implications of Human Resources projects and programs, including employment law advice on project development and implementation strategy, compliance with evolving global laws, and assessing the impact of novel issues.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary employment law advisor on global people programs.
  • Advise on the labor and employment implications of Human Resources projects and programs.
  • Provide employment law advice on project development and implementation strategy, including principles and frameworks, communications, timelines, and trainings.
  • Comply with evolving global laws and consistency with corporate standards.
  • Assess the impact of novel issues and identify and anticipate employment law risk in the programs and projects within your remit.
  • Propose solutions to mitigate future risk and interact with outside counsel or other service providers to create global legal surveys, synthesize legal advice across geographies, and address and resolve project-specific legal issues.
  • Conduct, review, interpret, and analyze legal advice and maintain a basic understanding of global labor and employment law principles.
  • Identify and implement processes and tools to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness, including client and internal resources.
  • Identify and engage appropriate stakeholders in CELA, HR, and the business to escalate issues and make connections across bodies of work, using written and oral communication skills to articulate recommendations and provide options on complex legal issues.
  • Collaborate and partner effectively across teams to provide client service in a high volume and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree.
  • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
  • 3+ years experience as a practicing attorney or equivalent practice of law.
  • Experience with programmatic implementation regarding employment law matters and advising technology clients on employment and labor law matters.
