A successful Beverage Specialist will warmly welcome patrons, familiarize themselves with their preferences, respond to inquiries, suggest menu items, and skillfully prepare and serve beverages. You will also promote additional sales by upselling items, developing unique recipes, utilizing appropriate equipment and ingredients, and performing basic cleaning tasks. To thrive as a Soho House Beverage Specialist, you should maintain a polished appearance and possess an engaging, friendly character. Efficiency, attentiveness, knowledge, and a passion for craft cocktails are essential traits.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to service protocols and company standards for crafting cocktails and other beverages served at the bar.
- Keep your work area tidy and organized, collaborating with fellow specialists to wash glassware and utensils after each use, clean up after patrons, and maintain a clean workspace.
- Inform guests and members about beverage selections acquired through House Tonic training.
- Articulate and promote daily specials, seasonal menu items, and food pairing suggestions to enhance the dining experience and drive additional sales.
- Process payments for all sold items and operate a cash register efficiently.
- Verify customer identification to ensure compliance with age restrictions for the purchase of alcohol and tobacco products, as well as assess when a patron may have consumed too much alcohol.
- Arrange bottles and glassware to create visually appealing displays that highlight specific beverage options and enhance overall sales and guest experience.
- Serve customers in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, delegating replenishment tasks to Barbacks as necessary.
- Mix ingredients according to established recipes to maintain a cohesive beverage program and consistent guest experience.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a high-volume food and beverage environment.
- Experience with craft cocktails and handling seasonal, perishable ingredients.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and fulfill drink orders promptly while ensuring consistency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible schedule and dependable attendance.
- Certification in tips training.
- Familiarity with Micros systems is advantageous.
- Must be capable of seizing, grasping, turning, and holding objects with hands.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, typically 8 hours or more.
- Fast-paced movements are required to navigate between different areas of the venue.
- Must be able to lift, pull, carry, or move at least 40 pounds.
- Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing may be necessary.
