About the Position

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the City of Auburn's Police Department as a Lateral Police Officer. As a sworn police officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the law.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency and routine calls for service, providing assistance and support to the community.
  • Patrol assigned areas, including business districts and residential neighborhoods, to prevent and investigate crimes.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to solve crimes.
  • Make arrests when necessary, using varying degrees of physical force to overcome resisting suspects.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives, building relationships with residents and businesses to promote trust and cooperation.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws and regulations, attending training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a graduate of a municipal or regional Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy or equivalent.
  • Must have full-time experience as a sworn, paid municipal, county, state, or federal police officer within the last four years.
