As an Automation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in operating and enhancing automated instrumentation, collaborating with world-renowned scientists and engineers to develop and productionize new automated solutions to accelerate discoveries and shape the future of oncology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and operate project-specific automated workflows and data solutions
  • Maintain integrated systems, ensuring seamless operation and optimal performance
  • Train researchers in the use of automation and data, providing expert guidance and support
  • Maintain vendor relationships and service contracts, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions
  • Coordinate HTS campaign scheduling, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing downtime
  • Evaluate new software and hardware, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing innovative solutions
  • Partner with IT to ensure efficient data management, ensuring secure and reliable data storage and retrieval
  • Perform monitoring, troubleshooting, and other sustaining activities, ensuring optimal system performance and minimizing downtime
  • Participate in conferences to evaluate new trends in automation, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a bioengineering, computer science, chemistry, biology, or related discipline
  • At least four years' lab automation, screening, or related experience (may include two years' experience gained as undergraduate)
  • Experience with automation software (e.g., Freedom EVOware)
  • Experience integrating liquid handlers to analytical instrumentation via robotic arms and scheduler software
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational, time management, documentation, and communication skills
  • Discretion and judgment with confidential information
  • Ability to work as part of a team, teach others, adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-content screening and compound or genetic library management
  • Experience with biological data analysis
  • Working knowledge of common programming and data science tools such as Python, JavaScript, C#, R, Azure/GCP/AWS, and/or Docker

This position entails working some evenings/weekends due to the nature of timed experiments, clinical samples, or emergencies.
