Job Summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a skilled Interventional Technologist II to join our team in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. As a key member of our diagnostic and interventional team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and specialized technical procedures, assisting physicians in the performance of cardiovascular diagnostic testing and other therapeutic/interventional procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate fluoroscopy, digital angiography equipment, and other radiographic equipment to apply ionizing radiation to cardiology patients in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor patient hemodynamic/electrocardiography status and provide results to physicians, reading pressure tracings and using hemodynamic monitors to obtain and measure patient intra-cardiac pressures.
  • Set up and maintain a sterile field, utilizing sterile technique, and open sterile procedure trays as needed.
  • Assist physicians in establishing and maintaining percutaneous vascular access, managing intra-vascular sheaths, guide wires, and catheters, and managing radiographic contrast and the collection of angiographic data.
  • Prepare contrast material for administration by physicians, utilizing pressure injectors and selecting proper parameters to ensure adequate opacification of prescribed anatomy.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred but obtainable within one year.
  • Certification from the ARRT as an RT(R)(CV), RT(R)(CI), or RT(R)(VI) and licensure by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, or certification from the CIC for RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) required.
  • Recent applicable clinical experience in a comparable setting and maintenance of 15 contact hours of education every year required.
