Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise all personnel within the mechanical and electrical engineering departments.
  • Collaborate with various departments and Project Managers to ensure the development of quality systems that are delivered punctually and within budget.
  • Focus on Engineering Development – it is vital for Acieta's success to recruit top-tier engineers, provide ongoing training and development, and retain them for the long term.
  • Leverage the expertise of Senior Engineers and seasoned engineers to foster continuous improvement within the team.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the products, services, and capabilities of software, vendors, and supplier-partners without necessarily developing deep technical expertise.
  • Establish and promote engineering standards, both in components/systems and in engineering processes/procedures, requiring a structured departmental approach and consistent focus.
  • Collaborate with sales management and the sales support engineering team to optimize standard products and streamline the quoting process for automation systems.
  • In partnership with project management, facilitate lessons learned activities during system assembly/integration, documenting opportunities for designing cost-effective systems that consider manufacturability, ease of assembly, and maintenance.
  • Review proposals and Scope of Work documents in alignment with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain an engineering skills matrix, regularly evaluating and developing all engineering levels while identifying gaps and proactively hiring additional personnel.
  • Oversee the scheduling efficiency of the engineering department.
  • Responsible for the strategic long-term planning of the engineering department.
  • Maintain the onboarding plan for all engineering team members.

Qualifications:

The role requires a robust understanding of the company and the daily operations of each functional area.

The Engineering Manager must possess the ability to advocate for their ideas while being empathetic towards team members, demonstrating effectiveness in team building, and exercising authority while empowering subordinates.

Strong communication skills, high energy, and a self-starter attitude are essential.


Engineering Expertise/Education:
  • Must have a thorough understanding of robotics and flexible automation systems and be able to quickly grasp concepts presented by Sales and Automation Engineers.
  • Comfortable supervising peers with equal or greater technical expertise; 5 or more years of experience managing an engineering team is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience related to machine design, automation, and/or robotics is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, though relevant experience is of utmost importance.

Licenses and Other Requirements:
  • Proficient in personal computer usage with familiarity in software for financial and project scheduling tracking.
  • Must become adept in using all Engineering Tools, including 2D and 3D CAD software, SimPro, Word, Excel, and Project.
