Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the University of Oklahoma. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the healthcare team in our outpatient clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and other medical personnel in the examination process
  • Perform routine tests on patients, including hearing screens, Snellen vision testing, and urinalysis
  • Obtain and record vital signs, including body temperature, height, weight, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure
  • Take and document patient complaints and histories, including allergies and immunization histories
  • Assist with procedures, administer vaccines, and collect specimens for laboratory testing
  • Chaperone examinations and patients
  • Responsible for stocking clinic supplies, taking inventory, ordering supplies, and sterilizing instruments and equipment
  • Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities
  • Cleans exam rooms, workspaces, and common areas
  • Answers telephone calls and distributes to the appropriate personnel
  • Greets patients as they come into the clinic for scheduled appointments
  • Accepts payments and writes receipts
  • Inspects patient forms for completeness and accuracy
  • Copies insurance cards and scans into EMR system

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • 6 months experience in patient care as a Medical Assistant or 6 months performing electronic order entry as a qualified ABROE
  • Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or qualified ABR-OE or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
